We decided to view glaciers from a helicopter. What a great choice it turned out to be! Highlight of our trip so far!

airborne
Heading up a valley into the ice field
Our pilot landed 3 times to let us
get out on the glacier.
Up here it’s all glacier, all the time
Scientific monitoring installation at the top.
We spied a snow cave (formed by
a river of melting glacier) and
went down for a closer look.
Behind us, notice the river of glacial melt that formed the cave
We were agog and giddy with the whole experience! We celebrated with pisco sours made with calafate berries
native to Patagonia.
Our server made sure we knew that legend has it that if you visit Patagonia and eat the fruit of the calafate, you will return to Patagonia.
it must be true…because now I have!
Now Don will be returning, too!
