This is the estuary of a channel of the Tiber River at Fiumicino, which is the name of the town as well as the international airport nearby. (This is on the coast, west of Rome.) A scheduled national rail strike called for the day before my flight made it necessary for me to travel to Fiumicino a day early, instead of just the day before my morning flight. Many boats in the marinas here.Promenades on both sides of the river, with restaurants, hotels, and gelatarias.Pedestrian draw bridge allows sailboats access to the Tyrrhenian Sea (and beyond!!).Zuppa di Cozze – mussel soup. At a fancy seafood joint at the end of the waterway. Just excellent!Iconic stone pines in a city park. Such a beautiful, distinctive tree!
