Jacque Cousteau once described the Sea of Cortez as “nature’s aquarium”, based on the profusion of aquatic life it contains. For example, gray whales migrate from Alaska to the Sea of Cortez to breed and give birth. They can be seen from shore with binoculars (and even without) and boats are available to take whale lovers out to see them up close.A little ways down the beach is Rancho Buena Vista, an old time fishing resort from another era.
