On our way to our next
cabaña in Puerto Varas, we stopped in Frutillar for lunch….actually it was Frutillar Bajo, on Lago Llanquihue. It’s a town founded by German immigrants in 1856, and there is some tasty chocolate, and unnerving pastries available.

Without clouds, the view across the lake includes Volcan Osorno. It looms.

For your edification. I mean, for your edifricktation:

Lago Llanquihue is one of the largest and most beautiful lakes in Chile, surrounded by stunning landscapes with the majestic Osorno Volcano in the background. Located in the Los Lagos region, its crystal-clear waters are completely transparent. (online blurb)
Hmm. It’s the middle of summer and hardly anyone in the water.
Oh yeah, it’s a glacial lake…
Blue agapanthus (above) and blue hydrangea are everywhere. Perfect conditions in the temperate rain forest. Also seeing concentrations of fuschia and montbretia growing in the ditches along the roads.
Old architecture.
There was an artisanal flea market going on with lots of interesting Chilenos.
They are a polite and friendly people.
I do love Chile.
I bought some raspberry marmalade from one of the vendors. Nice label, huh?
