Arriving late in the day in Taranto, the full moon was shining bright from my 3rd floor patio at my Airbnb.
Taken upon waking the next morning. The fishing fleet was going out.
Cozze (mussels) au gratin. Mmm
Creme caramel for dessert. (Closely related to Spanish flan)
Wide promenade along the sea
“On the Taranto seafront you can find beautiful mermaids comfortably seated on the rocks. These statues were made by the sculptor Francesco Trani in solid marine concrete to resist the corrosive action of the waves. Currently renovated, they bring to light one of the oldest local legends, according to which the waters of the city of the two seas were much appreciated by these creatures, who chose a shoal between the coast and the Cheradi islands as the seat of their enchanted world.”

And what about the redhead?
Castello Aragonese was built in 1496 for the then-king of Naples, Ferdinand II of Aragon, on the site of a Greek fortification dating to the 4th century BCE. Taras (Taranto) was originally a colony of Sparta, founded in 706 BCE.
