I’ve been planning a hike to the 3,000 year old Alerce Milinario tree since Iowa.
Ferns, wildflowers, and ripe blackberries lined the access road. Verdant.
Love the native fuschia….it’s everywhere.

Been raining for a couple of days.
Do bees like fun colors? Check out fenceposts in the rain forest.
Conaf has been building
Salto Rio Chaica.
You wouldn’t want to take this on
your inflatable lounge chair.
Trail improvements…. built over areas where rainwater accumulates.
Boardwalk to some mud holes
Alerce Milinario Tree
Older than the redwoods

Online blurb:
“The Alerce (Fitzroya cupressoides), also known as Labuan, is a massive, long-lived conifer native to the Valdivian temperate rain forests of Chile and Argentina. It is one of the world’s longest-living trees, with some specimens exceeding
3,000–5,000 years of age.”

Hmm. Sounds like Darwin named it
after Fitzroy (Captain of HMS Beagle).
That happened more than once.
